Our Flagship Project

600MW Thermal
Power Plant

Zambia's most significant private power infrastructure investment — a 600MW coal-fired thermal power plant in Sinazongwe District, backed by a $700 million commitment to the nation's energy future.

The Sinazongwe
Power Project

Global Core Energy's flagship project is the development of a 600 megawatt coal-fired thermal power plant located in Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, Zambia. The plant will generate reliable baseload electricity and supply it directly to Zambia's national electricity grid.

"A landmark infrastructure investment that will fundamentally transform Zambia's power generation landscape."

The project is supported by fully integrated coal mining operations, which serve as the primary feedstock source — delivering long-term fuel security and ensuring supply chain independence for the life of the plant.

With a total investment of USD $700 million, the Sinazongwe Power Project represents the most significant private sector commitment to Zambia's energy infrastructure in recent history.

How It Works

From Mine to Grid

An integrated energy cycle — from coal extraction through to power delivered across Zambia.

01
⛏️
Coal Extraction
On-site coal mining operations extract coal from Sinazongwe's rich reserves, serving as the primary and exclusive feedstock for the thermal plant.
02
🔥
Thermal Generation
Coal is combusted in the thermal power plant to produce steam, which drives turbines connected to generators producing up to 600MW of electricity.
03
Power Transmission
Generated electricity is stepped up in voltage via transformers and transmitted through high-voltage lines to the national grid interconnection point.
04
🏭
National Distribution
Power flows from the national grid to industrial consumers, mines, commercial users and residential communities throughout Zambia.
